French horn Instructor: Megan Burke Decker
Megan Burke Decker (French horn) is a Hudson Valley native and has been performing on the horn for over 15 years. She currently performs as the Principal Horn with the Northern Duchess Symphony Orchestra and Fourth Horn with the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orcherstra. She is an Adjunct Professor of Horn at SUNY Ulster in Stone Ridge and maintains an active private lesson studio. She received her Bachelor’s in Music Performance at Western Connecticut State University under the tutelage of Dr. Marjorie Callaghan and went on to study with Daniel Grabois at The Hartt School where she was awarded a Master’s of Music Degree. Her students have participated in Regional, All County, and Area All State programs. Megan enjoys teaching students of all levels and encouraging the love of the horn for future generations.

When it came time to pick an instrument in Elementary School I asked my father the name of the instrument that was on The Beatles track "For No One"; after he told me it was the horn I decided that is what I wanted to play and have been ever since.Music teacher who inspired me the most:
My high school band teacher encouraged me to pursue music and helped give me confidence in my ability. My horn teacher and WCSU also helped shaped mindset when performing on the horn and helped me to refine my pedagogical skills.
