Piano Instructor (Ages 5-10): Peter Spear
Peter Spear has had a passion for music all his life. He began his studies. In piano at Westchester Conservatory at age 12. Peter received his BA in Music from Duke University where he studied piano with Jane Hawkins and Randy Love. He studied independently in Music Composition with Pulitzer Prize Winner Robert Ward. In post-graduate studies at UNC-Chapel Hill, he studied piano with Frank Pittman and was certified in K-12 Band and Choir. At UNC, he was commissioned to compose the choral work, "She Walks In Beauty" by the UNC Women's Glee Club. Peter enjoys teaching and sharing his own love of playing music with his students. He currently plays in a band that features cover songs and originals. He is a member of the American Society of Singers and Performers.

When I heard the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky at Lyndhurst, I fell in love with Symphonic music.
Music teacher who inspired me the most:George Trautwein, my high school choral teacher, introduced me to great music, art and architecture. We traveled to England, and North Carolina where I first visited Duke and UNC.
