Attendance and Cancellations

Picture
Our teachers are professional music educators and are committed to each of their lessons.  Likewise, a reasonable commitment is expected of every student.  Please do your best to avoid conflicts with your scheduled lesson time.

Why we have a Lesson Cancellation Policy.

Musicians make a living based on the appointments they have scheduled.  Music teachers are unable to recover lost income when they receive last minute cancellations for appointments.  For example:  A teacher books lessons back to back from 3pm-8pm.   Johnny calls at 8am to cancel a lesson at 4pm the same day.  The teacher will not be able to book another appointment to fill that empty slot, and will have to make another time available for Johnny’s lesson.  While teachers understand that cancellations are bound to happen and will make every effort to reschedule a lesson, we must put some limitations on when and how often lessons are cancelled.

Therefore:  Cancellations after 10am on the day of your lesson are forfeited.  For lessons scheduled before noon, the deadline is 10pm the night before.   We chose this time and not a 24 hour advance deadline so that if a student is sick and not attending school that day, there would be plenty of time for students to notify us, and the studios to notify the teacher that they should arrive later, leave earlier, run an errand, make phone calls, etc.

Students are limited to 1 make-up per month.  With over 200 students in our studios, open time slots for teachers are very limited.  Frequent rescheduling means that a student is not really using their reserved time slot.

What it means to you:  Of course, cancellations will happen!  We will certainly reschedule a lesson for you, as long as it’s not a frequent request and you’ve given us appropriate notice.  And you can be certain your teacher will reciprocate the same courtesy to you.
